Movie News: Avengers Assemble…Again?

June 14, 2012

Despite having already taken in over a billion dollars to become the third-highest-grossing movie ever, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and the rest of Marvel’s The Avengers may be back in action sooner than fans may have anticipated.

Various reports are claiming that Marvel and parent company Disney are looking to topple James Cameron’s mighty duo of Avatar and Titanic, number one and two on the list of all-time box office champs, by releasing a “director’s cut” of The Avengers this August.

Featuring thirty-plus minutes of additional footage, much of it said to revolve around Captain America, the theatrical re-release would serve to not only up the superhero film’s already impressive tally but also promote the impending home release of The Avengers, currently slated for September 25.
