Since July 17, 1988, The Discovery Channel has dedicated one week to one of the most feared creatures on earth: Sharks. But are Sharks really so scary? Shark Week explains these mysterious and beautiful creatures in two-hours of programming every night from August 12 to 16. Here’s a preview of what to expect this year.

Remember the hair-raising, Emmy®-nominated Shark Week special Ultimate Air Jaws from 2011? Well, the journey continues this year with shark expert Chris Fallows, as he pursues a 14-foot Great White called the Colossus. With new state-of-the-art cameras, Chris and company risk their lives to get the ultimate close-up of this mighty beast.

Later in the week, join the team of MythBusters as they put themselves to the test to bust the biggest shark myths, counting down to the top 25 shark myths of all time. Not only that, they’ll tell you all about emerging shark myths including the number-one myth of today. (Just a heads up, it’s going to blow your mind.) Plus, you’ll hear the incredible story of two WWII heroes who not only survived a plane crash, but also survived 47 days of living on a raft in shark-infested waters. You won’t want to miss it.

Think that’s exciting? That’s just part of it. We didn’t even mention that you’ll also get to see the largest shark that ever existed. Hint: It could bite a T-Rex in two.

So what are you waiting for? Tune in to Shark Week August 12-16 and enjoy two-hours of riveting documentaries starting at 9 p.m. every night.
