Hollywood and a whole generation of movie-goers were dealt a blow this morning when news of director Tony Scott’s passing yesterday in Los Angeles was made public.
Ruled a suicide, Scott’s death came after the revered director was allegedly diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. This has been disputed by his family, however.
In addition to his directorial work on classic films like Top Gun, True Romance and Crimson Tide, among many others, Scott formed a production company, Scott Free Productions, with his brother and fellow director, Ridley. The company was responsible for several recent hits like The A-Team and The Grey as well as several TV series including Numb3rs and The Good Wife.
Scott was reportedly working on a sequel to Top Gun with Tom Cruise as recently as last April.
Tony Scott was 68.
