When award-winning biker drama series Sons of Anarchy makes its season 5 premiere tonight at 10pm ET on FX, Jax (Charlie Hunnam) will be sitting at the head of the table as the motorcycle club’s new president. Ex-president Clay (Ron Perlman) is out of the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds, and still a member of the club. But for how long? That’s just one of the many questions viewers have going into the new season.
Season 4 didn’t end well for Clay, who was shot by Opie (Ryan Hurst) after Opie found out Clay killed his father. Shortly after, Clay’s involvement in Jax’s father’s death surfaced. This disheartening news led to a hospital visit from Jax. During the visit, Jax stripped Clay of his club president patch, held a knife to his neck and told him, “I know everything.” With Clay now out of the hospital and Jax calling the shots, it’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for Clay.
Tonight’s season premiere will introduce fans to two new guest stars. Emmy Award and Golden Globe winning actor Jimmy Smits (L.A. Law, NYPD Blue, The West Wing, Dexter), will play Nero Padilla, a smooth-talking Latino pimp, while accomplished young actor Harold Perrineau (Lost, The Matrix) takes on an intense role as ex-drug lord Damon Pope, who is out for revenge against the club for his daughter’s death at the end of last season.
Before tonight’s premiere, fans will have the chance to ask creator Kurt Sutter and the cast questions in a live chat hosted by comedian and actor Russell Brand. The chat starts at 9pm ET and can be accessed here.
Strap on your helmet and hold on tight. Sons of Anarchy is back, armed and ready to take you on the ride of your life.
