One of the summer’s biggest hits, Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man was quick to get a sequel greenlit by parent studio Columbia. And while little of the next film’s story is known, several casting rumors over the last few weeks have given us glimpses of where things may be heading.
The Hollywood Reporter this week uncovered the names of four young actors that are currently auditioning to play Peter Parker’s best friend Harry Osborn, son of Oscorp CEO (and eventual Green Goblin) Norman Osborne. While not yet household names, all four have upcoming turns in high profile films – Sam Clafin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Douglas Booth (Noah) and Boyd Holbrook (Stephanie Meyer’s The Host).
Big casting news came last month when Variety reported that Jamie Foxx was in talks to play Electro, master of electricity and one of Spider-Man’s original “Sinister Six.” While still unconfirmed, Foxx himself publicly expressed interest, going so far as to recently tweet “Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.”
