Q&A With Veteran Actor Victor Garber

October 24, 2013

You may not know his name, but you most certainly know his face. With a career that spans over 40 years, Victor Garber has appeared in everything from big-screen blockbusters, including Titanic and Legally Blonde, to small-screen hits like Alias, Ugly Betty, Glee, and many, many others. His latest project is The Hunters, a thriller about the quest to capture the magic mirror from Snow White.  The Hunters premieres Friday, October 25, at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel (ch. 312).

We recently sat down with Victor to ask him a few questions about his latest show.

You’ve been in so many different shows and movies.

I’ve been lucky in a lot of ways.  I just keep going.  You get to be my age, and you look back and think, “Wow, I can’t believe I’ve done all this.”  I’m grateful for all that.

You’ve been a bad guy a number of times, as you are in The Hunters.  Why do you think that’s happened?

I’ve actually played as many good guys as bad guys, but the bad guys are more memorable I think!

Why do you think your character Mason wants to take the magic mirror in The Hunters?

I think greed is powerful.  Greed is addictive.  We witness it every day in our world.  We see it in our government, we see it in our economic meltdowns.   I think Mason just never got the approval he needed from his father, and I think that’s also a powerful motivator.

How was it working with the younger actors on The Hunters?

It’s always a concern, because I’ve worked with some young actors who think it’s not necessary to learn their lines and just show up.  I have to say these kids were extraordinary, and so professional and so talented.  It was a real pleasure, and they were all great.  I had such a great time working with them.

Was it difficult working on a film with so many fantasy elements?

It was a hard shoot.  We were working late hours.  I hate sitting in a makeup chair for 3 hours, and that’s a consideration as to whether I do anything.  Anyway, they shot it so well, and everybody was on the money.  The crew was great.

The catering was good too, as I recall.

Don’t miss The Hunters premiering Friday, October 25, at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel (ch. 312).
