Lisa Kudrow Wants to Know Who Do You Think You Are?

August 12, 2014

For the last two decades, Lisa Kudrow has been a mainstay on American television sets. Star of such hits as Friends and The Comeback, Lisa now acts as Executive Producer for TLC’s series Who Do You Think You Are? Lisa spoke with DIRECTV about the upcoming season of the show.

We are now on the 5th season of Who Do You Think You Are? How does it feel to have a show you have produced on for so long?

I think we’re all proud of this show.  I’m personally happy that a show, which originally, most American networks had thought would be uninteresting (or too smart?) is now embraced by US audiences and has surpassed expectations.

Which celebs can we expect to go on the journey to discover their family tree this season?

We have announced Cynthia Nixon, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Rachel and Kayleen McAdams, Kelsey Grammer, Valerie Bertinelli and my fingers are crossed for a 6th person who I don’t think was announced yet.

Who is your ultimate guest star you would like to have appear on the show?

I don’t really have an answer to that. This show is about a person’s ancestry, specifically how history and circumstance influenced that lineage.  It doesn’t matter how famous or personally intriguing someone is now…I can’t look at someone and know they will have a remarkable story that can be told through documents.

How excited are you to be coming back for a long awaited season of The Comeback? What made you want to revisit that character?

Very excited about The Comeback. Michael Patrick King and I, actually, everyone involved in that show, felt like we could see Valerie anywhere and watch her try to control her story/her life after she gave it over to TV.

You have been in many films from Analyze This, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion and The Opposite of Sex. Do you have one film role that you were especially fond of doing?

There may only be one or two that I wasn’t fond of doing, which is pretty good from my perspective. But the ones you’ve mentioned are definitely highlights.  I would add my role in Wonderland, which I found interesting…

Who Do You Think You Are? airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on TLC.
