The Oscars are nearly upon us. Hopefully, you’ve done your research and already watched many of the Oscar-nominated films on our myriad of channels.
And your “research” helped us do a little of our own.
In the final weeks of campaigning, cinema pundits seem to be split over who is really the favorite. While at first, Boyhood at first seemed like the front runner (after sweeping up at the Golden Globes), now some sources are predicting that Birdman could come from behind to win. But what have you been watching?
The most searched movie on the site isn’t anything the Academy was honoring, at least not this year.
50 Shades of Gray—and the variant Fifty Shade of Gray—were the most searched for films. Following closely are Gone Girl, which snagged a nomination for Rosamund Pike’s role as “cool girl’ Amy, and American Sniper, which is currently only available in theaters.
Your most watched film of the Oscar contenders last week? Gone Girl. Perhaps, everyone just wants to see Neil Patrick Harris slip into something slightly darker. Also in the Top 10 for both searches and views The Judge, featuring Robert Duvall, who was tapped for best supporting actor.
Besides watching the movies and whipping up sides with Academy-worthy puns (Diplash, anyone?), might we recommend our printable Bingo cards for making the big show into something special? Hold your own race to see who is the first to get bingo by netting the right combination of awards show troops. We’ve got all the big-moments-to-be here: Meryl Streep winning-streak jokes, wardrobe malfunctions, Birdman’s first accolade, corny speeches, and more. (See images below.)
And don’t worry that the fun won’t last the entire awards show—you can always play with blackout rules: first to fill in their whole card wins.
Try your luck when the 87th Academy Awards airs on Sunday, February 22 at 7/6c on ABC. Until then, watch as many nominated films as you can right here!
