After adapting Bill O’Reilly’s non-fiction books which included Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy, National Geographic Channel is ready to take on one more assassination story—the tale of Jesus Christ’s death, in the two-part miniseries Killing Jesus.
The special event series will focus on the intimate historical details of Jesus of Nazareth’s life and the political collusions that led to his brutal demise, aiming to bring new context to the tale of his life. Killing Jesus is based on the New York Times best-selling book by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, which explores how the prophet came to recognition and eventually how he met his demise at the hands of a group of conspirators who saw him as a threat to their power.
Such an epic story necessitates a marquee cast, and the miniseries is not short on acclaimed actors. Haaz Sleiman steps into the role of Jesus Christ, while Kelsey Grammer portrays Herod, who presides over the trial against Jesus, and Stephen Moyer (known for his work on True Blood) stars at Pontius Pilate.
Killing Jesus premieres Sunday, March 29 at 8/7c on the National Geographic Channel (Ch. 276).
