5 Reasons to Get Excited About SHOWTIME® Originals This Season

September 30, 2015

There are so many reasons to tune into SHOWTIME® this season, but we forced ourselves to narrow it down to just 5 of the best. You’re welcome.

1. William H. Macy and His Dysfunctional Brood Return in Shameless

Emmy Award winner William H. Macy is headed back to SHOWTIME® to lead the Gallagher clan as hard-drinking, hard-living Frank in Shameless in January, and dysfunction has never been more fun. We can’t wait to see what the family has in store when Shameless returns for its sixth season on January 17. In the meantime, catch up on DIRECTV Everywhere and On Demand.

2. Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti Square Off in Billions

We can finally stop mourning Brody’s death on Homeland and rejoice that Emmy Award winner Damian Lewis is returning in the new series Billions as hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod. As if that weren’t enough to tide us over until January, everyone’s favorite hot-blooded Academy Award nominee, Paul Giamatti, will join Lewis as U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades. Based on the trailer, there should be at least a million reasons to tune in when Billions makes its series premiere on January 17.

3. Carrie Tries the Private Sector in Season 5 of Homeland

Season 5 picks up two years after Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison’s Islamabad station chief stint went sideways, and she’s out of the CIA and raising a child. Finally, a quiet life. If there’s one thing we know about Carrie, it’s that she’s incapable of sitting still or staying out of trouble, so we’re sure she won’t be playing it safe for long. Season 5 returns Sunday October 4 at 9/8c, but you can catch up now on DIRECTV Everywhere and On Demand.

4. Things Get Even Steamier in The Affair

Winner of dual Golden Globes for Best Drama and Best Actress in a Drama for Ruth Wilson, Season 1 of The Affair looked at infidelity from a fresh perspective—multiple perspectives, actually, with the narrative played and replayed from different points of view, leaving it to the audience to suss out exactly whose perspective to trust. Look for even more Rashomon-like intrigue in Season 2, premiering Sunday October 4 a 10/9c, and catch up now with Season 1

5. Get Dramatic Every Week with Inside the NFL

If you’re looking for even more drama, look to the crack Inside the NFL team of analysts for hard-hitting commentary on the drama happening on and off the field this football season. Catch Inside the NFL every Tuesday at 9/8c.

Don’t miss out on the drama. If you’re not already a subscriber, upgrade to SHOWTIME ® now!
