Shelter Shines a Light on Veterans Helping Veterans on Al Jazeera America

November 6, 2015

For veterans, the impact of their military service can linger long after their tours of duty have come to an end.

In the documentary Shelter, premiering this Sunday November 8 on Al Jazeera America as part of its launch on DIRECTV, two-time Academy Award-winning director Barbara Kopple highlights the inspiring work of community-based service organization, Veterans Resource Center. Founded by veterans, the Northern-California organization gives hope to vets who find themselves homeless and psychologically traumatized.

These homeless heroes would often have nowhere else to turn if it weren’t these fellow vets helping them get back on their feet. Shelter documents an intimate and inspiring glimpse into the challenges and victories of these noble men and women.

Don’t miss Shelter when it premieres Sunday November 8 at 10/9c on Al Jazeera America.
