CINEMAX® is well known for its wealth of movies, and this November is no exception. Here are three recent titles—each very different from the others—worth checking out this month.
1) Get caught in the web of international intrigue in Blackhat
A Chines nuclear facility has been hacked by cyber-terrorists, and thankfully Chris Hemsworth scofflaw hacker is on the case to get to the bottom of what proves to be just the beginning of an attack of global scale. Action and dram master Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral, The Insider) directs this non-stop thriller, which also features Viola Davis, Tan Wei, Ritchie Coster, Holt McCallany, Yorick Van Wageningen and Wang Mann. Buckle your seatbelt and hold on tight with Blackhat.
2) Die laughing with A Million Ways to Die in the West
Two words. Seth. McFarlane. And Charlize Theron. And Wild West comedy.
Ok, so that’s a bunch of words, but string them together and it spells good old-fashioned (and a little naughty) fun in the Old West. McFarlane stars as a cowardly sheep farmer who gets dumped for running from a showdown. After challenging his girl’s new beau to a draw to win her back, Charlize Theron hits the scene to show him how to handle a pistol. McFarlane directed and co-wrote this raunchy sendup, which also stars Amanda Seyfried, Neil Patrick Harris, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman and Liam Neeson.
3) Watch Melissa McCarthy run the show in Tammy
We all knew Melissa McCarty was incredibly talented and hilarious, particularly after her breakout role in Bridesmaids. But Tammy shows off McCarthy’s talents both in front of and behind the camera, not only starring but also co-writing this offbeat comedy (with a bit of drama). With an all-star cast that includes Susan Sarandon, Allison Janney, Gary Cole, Dan Aykroyd, and Kathy Bates, Tammy’s story of a frustrated, working-class Midwesterner who hits the road with her hard-drinking grandmother is sure to please.
