As we wrap up the year and get ready to head into awards season, we caught up with Corinne Foxx, daughter of Golden Globe and Academy Award- winning actor Jamie Foxx. She is an actress, student, and this year’s 2016 Miss Golden Globe!
What a thrill to be named Miss Golden Globe 2016! Can you tell us what this experience has been like so far?
The whole experience has been surreal. I was not expecting to be Miss Golden Globe, so I am completely shocked to even be in this position. Last week, I attended the In Style “Miss Golden Globe” party and got to finally announce to my family and friends that I was Miss Golden Globe. It was a great night with so many awesome celebrities, like Emily Blunt and Aziz Ansari. Right now, my main focus is on my dress. I’ve been spending time researching designers and what previous Miss Golden Globes have worn.
Are you nervous for the big night? Your father, Jamie Foxx is a Golden Globe winner, has he given you any tips for handling a room with so many movie and TV stars?
Of course, I am super nervous. Mostly, I am nervous about tripping or dropping the award on stage. Millions of people will be watching and the last thing that I want to do is mess up my job. My dad has been super supportive throughout this whole process. For the big night, he’s been reminding me to “own it” and to not be a wallflower for the night. He’s always encouraging me to meet new people and not be afraid of the big stars.
What actor or actress are you most excited to see on the red carpet?
I’m excited to see everyone on the big night. I’m not sure who will be there yet. But I will probably most excited to see anyone from Game of Thrones or Scream Queens (they are my favorite shows), Amy Poehler, and Matt Damon.
You are a model, actress, and a student at the University of Southern California. How do you find time to do it all?
I think that everyone has trouble finding balance in their lives. I’ve prioritized school for the last three years and it’s still my number one priority. I graduate this May, so I am in the home stretch of my studies. Once that happens, acting will definitely be my number one priority.
And finally what TV guilty pleasures would we find on your DVR?
Like I said, I’m guilty of loving Scream Queens. It’s such an outrageous show, but I love every minute of it. Maybe, it’s because I’m in a sorority so the humor really appeals to me.
