Although party conventions have spurred many important moments in America’s political history, many would be surprised to learn that the first party conventions didn’t actually take place until the 1830s. The tension and drama that dominated those conventions hasn’t dissipated, and this year’s conventions are sure to draw the attention of even the most disaffected voters.
Almost 80 years after the first national convention was televised, viewers will have the ability to tune in to both the Republican National Convention, and the Democratic National Convention uninterrupted and without commentary via DIRECTV and U-verse. That means no commercials and no talking heads—just pure political coverage of the conventions as events unfold on the floor.
This year, the Republican National Convention will take place in Cleveland, Ohio at the Quicken Loans Arena from July 18th through the 21st, and we’ll be there capturing every moment on channel 347 for DIRECTV customers (HD only), and on channels 212 and 1212 for U-verse customers.
The Democratic National Convention will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania just a few days later from July 25th through July 28th at the Wells Fargo Arena. Our coverage, which will air between 6pm and 11pm ET, will also appear on channel 347 for DIRECTV customers (HD only), and on channels 213 and 1213 for U-verse customers.
This year, we’re proud to bring our customers access to both national conventions like never before—without commercials, without commentary, LIVE or on the go! Watch all the action unfold at the tip of your fingers, and get excited for November!
