The PGA Championship Returns To The Historic Baltusrol Golf Club

July 28, 2016

The Baltusrol Golf Club is a household name among golf aficionados everywhere. Considered one of the top American courses, Baltusrol Golf Club is located in Springfield, NJ, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It earned that honor by being one of the oldest courses in the country, and by being the first U.S. course to have a 36 hole contiguous layout. Comprised of the Dual Courses (Upper and Lower), Baltusrol features several signature holes that make it the perfect venue for the heated competition of the PGA Championship.

Baltusrol last hosted the PGA Championship in 2005, when Phil Mickelson won the $1.2 million winner’s share. This year, the winner’s share increases to $1.9 million. Practice rounds began on Monday and continued through Wednesday. Live coverage of the Championship rounds will be shown on TNT (Ch.245) from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (July 28th) and Friday (July 29th).
