War Is Hell: From The Frying Pan Into The Fire

September 8, 2016

Cinemax® brings you a combination of retro cool and modern suspense in a new original series, Quarry. Think classic ‘50s noir, but instead of New York or Los Angeles as backdrops, this gritty tale of a killer-for-hire takes place in the Midwest and along the Mississippi River. Based on a novel of the same name by Max Allan Collins, Quarry follows Vietnam veteran Mac Conway as he returns home to a world he barely recognizes. Actor Logan Marshall-Green plays the former Marine, who comes back to Memphis for a homecoming he never expected.

The series, set in the social chaos of the early ‘70s, sees Conway shunned by loved ones and publicly ostracized for his participation in the war. Barely able to cope with his recent past, Conway falls in with a mysterious stranger known only as “The Broker.” When The Broker makes an irrefutable offer to the struggling veteran, he starts down a one-way path to murder.

Cinemax assembled an excellent cast for this retro ‘70s hitman tale. Quarry also stars Scottish character actor Peter Mullan (HBO’s Olive Kitteridge) as The Broker, Jodi Balfour (Final Destination 5) as Joni, Jamie Hector (HBO’s The Wire), Damon Herriman (Justified) as Buddy and Nikki Amuka-Bird (Luther) as Ruth.

Quarry premieres September 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Cinemax.
