If you had plans Saturday night, cancel them. Because if you didn’t know, now you know: March 4th is the epic rematch between UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley, and top contender Stephen Thompson. It’s UFC history in the making, as the two battle-tested rivals settle their score from UFC 205, which was considered the best UFC fight of 2016.
After their last bout was declared a draw, the only thing to do was to square off again. This time around, both fighters have fresh memories of their opponent’s fighting style, having spent 25 minutes in the Octagon together—an eternity in world of UFC. Woodley’s lunging right hook wrought havoc on Thompson last time, and kept Thompson on the defensive instead of lashing out with his devastating kicks. This time, Thompson says he’s ready to get aggressive and fight Woodley just like he’s fought all the others he’s beaten. But Woodley isn’t like other fighters, and it might have been an overabundance of caution that saved Thompson in the first place.
Since you’ve already canceled your plans to stay in for UFC 209, why not get an early start on the UFC action? Preliminary bouts will be available to watch on FS1 before the main pay-per-view event, starting at 8/7c.
Find out who will take home the belt in the rematch of the decade by ordering UFC 209 on pay-per-view. The action starts this Saturday, March 4th at 10/9c. And don’t miss the prelims airing on FS1, which start at 8/7c.
